DECC consults on Green Deal and ECO

DECC has opened a consultation on their vision for Green Deal, and the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) which it intends will work alongside Green Deal to help subsidise some of the more expensive energy efficiency measures. This consultation closes on the 18 January 2012.  For more information see DECC's pages
here.

Green Deal National Occupational Standards

Draft National Occupational Standards (NOS) units for domestic and non-domestic Green Deal Advisors were produced during 2011 and reviewed by experts representing energy consultants, energy assessors, training centres, training professionals and EPC accreditation schemes.  Workshops enabled these stakeholders to engage in lively discussions regarding the knowledge and competency requirements for advisors, providing feedback not only for the revision of the NOS, but for DECC officials to inform the drafting of the specifications for certification bodies and the guidance and conventions for carrying out the Green Deal assessments.

The NOS have now been agreed subject to regulatory approval and will shortly be available to download from the Asset Skills website.

The next stage is to use these NOS as the basis for QCF (Qualification Credit Framework) Units, which are the building blocks of all UK qualifications.  Once the QCF Units are available, qualifications may be developed using them and made available to Green Deal candidates.

If you would like to comment on the draft QCF units, please follow the link to the Asset Skills website and complete the survey:

The consultation closes on Friday 6th January 2012. This consultation also includes revised QCF Units for all types of energy assessors - Domestic, Non-domestic and Public Building Display Certificate assessors.

DECC BSi & industry will set Green Deal Standards for installers

The British Standards Institute (BSI) has been developing the Green Deal installer standard, through a steering group representing key stakeholders from industry and its own consumer protection teams. The draft Publicly Available Specification (PAS) was published on the BSI website for public comment and a new version is now being reviewed by industry.  It is expected to be published in its final form during January 2012.
